Day one! On our first day of chemistry we spend some time talking about safety in the lab. NUMBER ONE RULE! No fooling around! We need to follow all directions and keep everyone safe! Always wear your goggles and aprons to keep yourself safe.
Our task today... learn how to light and use the BUNSEN BURNER! Fire is fun but we have to be really careful. We learned all of the safety rules about the bunsen burner and using the matches and striker (it is NOT a toy!). We learned that the best flame is blue and that you only get that when you have the right mix of gas and air.
We are off to a great start!
